My wife and I will be comming to Italy (10 days including travel) and I will have 2 full days to participate in the activites. My wife is Italian and we will be visiting relatives. We both work and have limited vacation time.
I am thinking of arriving the late afternoon of Thursday June 10th to register and jumping Friday and Saturday. This is because the schedule indicates "Big Ways" on Friday and Saturday with no team committments.
I am thinking of bringing my gear with me, not renting.
We are looking into flying from SFO or OAK to Paris onto Bolonia, renting a car arriving Reggio Emalia Thursday night and leaving Sunday to the Piedmonte area. After 3 days with relatives we will fly out of Milan home.

So... what do you think considerting my restraints? Lugging my gear worth it? Joing the World Meet at the end, not the beginning make sense?

Hi Mike,
I am very happy you are planning to take part at the next World POPS Meet, but I hope for more than two days.
To bring your gear with you is a matter of personal peace of mind (I brought my gear in Toogoolawah).
The schedule of WPM is subject to weather conditions and the competition has priority. In case of bad weather the "Big Ways" may be reduced or even cancelled. Moreover, to pay the entry fee for only two days is not advantageous.
You asked for my point of view and, honestly, here it is.
Hope to see you in Reggio Emilia anyway. Lamberto Serenelli

Lamberto,
Have the costs been posted? I checked POPS2010 and did not see costs listed. I did not consider the registration fee and will need to know before I finalize my plans. Thank you for your comments which I will take under advisement.

Hi Mike,
the cost of the jumps and the registration fee will be made known in the online registration form at the beginning of Marh 2010.
To give you a clue, in 2006 Eloy (USA) the entry fee only was 115 USD for competitors and 90 USD for companions. In Toogoolawah 2008 (Australia) the entry fee only was 200 AUD for competitors and 160 AUD for companions.
For the next World POPS Meet we are making every effort to remain close to these figures in spite of the crisis.
Ciao
Lamberto
