POPS World Record 113-way

A new POPS world freefall formation record was established October 7, 2007 at Skydive Perris in the California desert east of Los Angeles. It should be noted that this world record was conceived and executed by skydivers ranging in age from 40 to 75.

After three days, and fourteen attempts from 16,000 feet, the 113-person group finally came together on the last jump of the fifteen-jump series.

This eclipses the POPS 110-way world record established at Skydive Perris in 2005.

The 113 skydivers, and 6 freefall videographers, exited from six airplanes including a Shorts Skyvan and five DeHavilland Twin Otters flying in tight formation.

Several Florida jumpers, including your's truly, participated in the new world record.

Although the photo below clearly shows details on the ground, the image was captured well above 7,000 feet... almost 1.5 miles above the desert sand below.
